Amy Sjolander is a Partner in Ruben & Sjolander.  She primarily handles consumer litigation matters.  Representative clients include General Motors Corporation, Saturn Corporation, Saab Cars, U.S.A., Inc., and Hyundai Motor America. 

Prior to forming Ruben & Sjolander, Ms. Sjolander was a senior associate with a leading national litigation and trial law firm, where she also practiced in the area of consumer litigation.  In the first five years of her career, she practiced at a well respected insurance defense litigation firm where she handled product liability, employment, and construction defect cases.

Ms. Sjolander has twice argued before the California Courts of Appeal in the cases of Russell v. General Motors Corporation (CA4, G031611) and Lucx Asian Railcars v. General Motors Corporation (CA4, E036478).

Ms. Sjolander graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin.  During her senior year of college she was recognized as the third best speaker at the National Forensics Association National Tournament.  During law school, Ms. Sjolander remained active in public speaking by coaching high school speech, debate and mock trial teams.  As a law student she was a member of the University of Minnesota Law School’s National Moot Court Program.  She continues to be active in law school moot court programs by judging local competitions.

Ms. Sjolander is also a weekly volunteer at an elementary school in Hawthorne, California where she focuses on the importance of reading and community involvement.  Past projects have included a post-hurricane Read for Katrina fund raiser and a Students v. Attorneys Geography Challenge.
